What does UPS protect my devices from?
UPS is especially used with IT systems and personal computers to prevent data loss in case of a failure at mains and to protect the devices from the damaging effects that can be caused by mains. These damaging effects are;
-Random or regular power cuts,
-Voltage drops caused by inefficient capacity or constant low/high mains voltage.
-General low quality of power,
-Harmonic distortions, unstable frequency, sudden voltage jumps and noise. (Harmonics can be summarized as; high frequency vibrations that are caused by the loss of sinus waveform of mains when a nonlinear load is in use or a high power load is activated at a close facility)
What should I do to use my UPS longer without a failure?
Generaly, all electronic circuit components, so that the accurate running, life, reliability of devices that they are used in, are decreased by overheating. For that reason, cooling fans are used in high power devices for air ventilation. These fans blow out the hot air from inside the UPS to prevent heat. If your UPS is used in a climatised room, you will increase the life of both UPS and dry type batteries used with the system
Even though I turn off the UPS, the fans continue to run. Is this normal?
Since that the components that the current runs through gets too hot, cooling of these is very important. Even though the UPS is turned off, the heat of these components can not decrease to normal immediately. For that reason, fans will continue to run until the desired temperature is reached. You can observe a similar logic at cooling fans for the motors of cars.
Can I increase the power of UPS by adding batteries?
Batteries do not effect the power of UPS. Batteries determine the back up time of UPS when mains cut off. So that by increasing the battery amount, you can increase the back up time not the power of UPS
Do the UPS have emailing option for predefined conditions?
ARTronic UPS have E-mailing feature for predefined conditions by using Winpower software.
When the mains cut off, can I turn off different computers in different times by using winpower software?
If Winpower software is installed to a master computer, the other computers on network which are in communication with the master computer and using different operating systems, can be turned off at times defined by user.
Can UPS send SMS to my cellphone in case of a problem?
ARTronic UPS can send SMS to defined cellphone numbers if LAN is connected to a GSM modem.
Can we feed boiler, rolling shutter motor loads with UPS?
Every UPS that is selected with the suitable power can be used with boiler, rolling shutter motor loads. But, when a modified sinewave output waveform UPS is used instead of pure sinusoidal output waveform it causes noise and overheating of motor. To prevent this, usage of true sinewave output UPS is recommended.
My inverter works normally with mains but does not work with generator.
Especially with the generators that have less power than the load used, serious frequency drift can occur. If these drifts are out of input tolerance limits of the inverter, it may not work. Too much harmonic at generator output can also cause the same problem.
What is PWM (Pulse Width Modulation)
PWM is a Converting technique to create sinusoidal wave form by using DC Voltage at the input side of the Inverter in UPS systems. In this technique, first, the DC Voltage is modulated according to width of a pulse signal and accordingly a square wave form is created. Then, this created wave form is filtered to modify the wave form to pure sine wave.
